What is the topographic makeup of the villages and surrounding areas?
Because the district is spread out across the approximate geographic size of the state of Oregon, the topography varies.
Upriver sites (Russian Mission, Marshall, Pilot Station, Pitka’s Point) tend to be hilly and wooded, while downriver sites
(Kotlik, Emmonak, Alakanuk, Nunam Iqua) are flat wetlands and tundra. The coastal sites (Scammon Bay, Hooper
Bay) are hilly and wet. All sites have cranberries, salmonberries, blackberries, and more.
